Understanding how people feel in moments of change.
Understanding what is said, and what is left unsaid.
Understanding where to focus next.
Because when you lead with curiosity, you do not just collect feedback. You create alignment. And that is what turns change into progress.
We sat down with Mauro Zilioli (Scrum Master and Mentimeter Product Owner) and Charles Arundel (Director of Digital Product) to understand how they use Mentimeter to align teams and bridge the gap between distributed teams.
When Mauro and Charles brought together 50+ leaders for a workshop on ways of working, the topic was anything but straightforward. The changes being discussed were significant, and the room held a wide spectrum of opinions. Therefore, it's critical to capture these opinions to gauge potential concerns.
The team turned to Mentimeter's anonymous polling to create a safe space for candid input. At TUI Musement, the anonymity aspect no longer needs to be explained. People know their responses can't be traced back to them, which often means they share more.
On the first day, before the first session, participants rated key questions on a scale of one to six. By repeating the questions at the end of the day, the team could track whether sentiment was improving or not. They also collected open-ended feedback at the end of each day covering session takeaways, concerns, and even logistics. With the AI-powered grouping within Mentimeter they were able to quickly make sense of responses from nearly 50 people. This made it possible for the facilitation team to review, gather learnings and summarize the input directly after the day ended.
In the morning session the next day, the facilitation team circled back to address the previous day's feedback directly, demonstrating to participants that their input had been heard and acted on. This closed loop built trust and kept the sessions on track.
The result was a level of transparency the team simply wouldn't have achieved otherwise. And crucially, those whose concerns were identified were given the option to follow up privately, preserving anonymity while still opening a door to further conversation.
Before-and-after check-ins revealed how key topics were landing with the audience, allowing facilitators to adjust in the moment.
Some precision was requested via the Mentimeter Open-Ended Question. An insight that might never have emerged in an open discussion.
54 out of 55 participants scored 7–10 on key questions. That’s a level of confidence the team wouldn't have had without anonymous data.
TUI Musement operates across more than 50 countries, with a setup that is remote-friendly. But distributed teams come with a challenge: without the natural pulse of office life, it can be hard to gauge how people are really feeling and evaluate it recurrently with genuine open-ended questions.
Mentimeter has become a core part of how TUI Musement's product community stays connected. In large online meetings, a quick word cloud or temperature check for the first few minutes warms people up and replaces the icebreakers that come naturally in physical spaces. The Q&A feature gives participants a less exposed alternative to the public Teams chat, encouraging quieter voices to contribute.
But the deeper application is in ongoing team health monitoring. Across 20 to 30 sessions, product teams regularly use scales to score themselves on soft metrics: how they feel about collaboration, their perceived productivity, and the barriers they're facing. The same questions are asked consistently over time, because the value isn't in a single snapshot, it's in the trend. Charles describes it almost like a heart monitor, where you can see spikes of either transformation or physical interaction. Mentimeter helps to capture and read them.
When scores dip, the data gives leaders a clear signal to investigate, allowing leadership to understand the context, reach out to scrum masters, and work to unblock issues before they escalate, acting as a proactive servant leader rather than waiting to be told there was a problem.
The same approach helps them navigate structural change. When teams are changed, rebuilt, or gain new members, there's almost always disruption. Having a consistent set of health metrics means those moments of change can be managed proactively, not just observed in hindsight.
Continuous tracking across 20–30 sessions allows leadership to spot/prevent drops in productivity.
Instead of open-ended team meetings, data points to exactly where attention is needed. This saves time and improves outcomes.
During team restructuring, health metrics provide an objective signal to support people through disruption.
"Within our technology teams at TUI, we have used Mentimeter as part of virtual, onsite and hybrid workshops. We worked closely with the Mentimeter trainers, who supported us both in shaping interactive session formats and in facilitating the workshops themselves. Their approach was professional and thoughtful, and the ability to work comfortably in both English and German is particularly helpful in our context. Overall, the collaboration added value to our sessions and supported meaningful engagement with our teams.” Bethany Blackburn Senior Performance & Strategy Manager TUI Group
