How TEDxLjubljana engaged 1,500 participants with Mentimeter
How to collect audience input in real-time and present it in a way that feels seamless and engaging.
TEDxLjubljana is the leading TEDx organization in Slovenia, giving space to fresh, innovative, groundbreaking, inspiring, under-exposed, and courageous ideas from Slovenia and around the world.
When the team set out to organize a flagship event in November 2024, they wanted to do more than inspire - they wanted the audience to actively shape the experience. Ines Avžlahar, Head of Creative and Design, explains, "We wanted to create a unique, interactive experience for the audience during one of our musical performances. The performance involved freestyle rapping, where the artists would create verses on the spot using words provided by the audience."
To pull it off, they needed a tool that could collect audience input in real-time and present it in a way that felt seamless and engaging. That’s where Mentimeter entered the picture.
From the moment Ines and her team discovered Mentimeter, they knew they’d found the perfect fit. "It allowed us to capture the audience's creativity in an interactive and fun way. The TEDxLjubljana team set up Mentimeter to gather words from the audience before the freestyle rap session. As participants submitted their suggestions, the words appeared on the screen, forming a vibrant display of ideas.

Out of 1,500 attendees, 305 people submitted 420 words, which became the foundation for the freestyle rap performance. Seeing their suggestions brought to life in real-time created an energy that filled the room.
