We believe in the power of together. For us at Mentimeter, this naturally includes our colleagues, customers, friends, and family, and also our planet. Because of this, Mentimeter is committed to creating as little impact on the climate as possible. In this case, we see negative being positive. To achieve this, we are prepared to take chances. We already support groundbreaking projects, with uncertain outcomes. Of course, we know that small actions matter too, and we embrace this in our office, when we travel, and whenever we can. By sharing our work and knowledge, we aspire to inspire others to do the same.
Mentimeter is used by many but seen by more. Therefore we have the power to influence others in a positive way. We use our platform and networks to promote and bring awareness to possible solutions for securing a stable climate for our future generations. We try to inspire our users and create informative environmental templates that they can then use with their networks to create a positive change. People have used our climate change templates to help educate, inspire and encourage others to think about their impact in the world. We also want to be transparent in how we build our company and work with climate change to be a source of inspiration.
We are resolute in our commitment to spearhead the transition toward a low-carbon economy. Traditional climate compensation projects, such as tree planting, face challenges in their effectiveness as comprehensive solutions for our planet's pressing needs. In response, Mentimeter invested in Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology in 2019, initiating a new market in Sweden. This innovative technology has the capability to capture CO2 directly from the atmosphere and safely sequester it back into the ground.
In 2021, we underscored our commitment to this technology by investing in Climeworks, a firm specializing in DAC, assisting businesses in attaining their net-zero objectives. As of 2022, we are proud to align ourselves with some of the world's most forward-thinking companies, including Klarna and Spotify, as we invest in Carbon Removal via the Climate Transformation Fund. We firmly believe that this is the trajectory of the future, and we take immense pride in supporting those who are diligently crafting it.
Embracing the ethos of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, we champion sustainability. We recycle, only serve vegetarian menu when we offer food, and try to adjust energy sources to be renewable. Our Stockholm office draws only from renewable energy via Vattenfall, while our Toronto & Sydney branch is actively trying to transition away from carbon-based sources. The actions we take underscores our dedication to protecting our planet.
Since achieving carbon neutrality in 2019, we at Mentimeter continue to dream bigger, aiming for Net-Zero emissions. As of 2022, we proudly collaborate with two transformative partners - Normative, to help measure and reduce our carbon footprint, and Milkywire, for carbon removal. With an internal CO2-tax set at $100 per tonne for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, we are embracing responsibility and making sustainability an integral part of our business model. Our strategies are rooted in science, as we are officially approved according to the stringent standards of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)(https://sciencebasedtargets.org/about-us). For a deeper insight into our journey toward a greener future, we invite you to peruse our Annual Report (https://www.mentimeter.com/investors/reports-presentations).
As a company, we don’t travel that much and when we do we are careful. We rarely travel for meetings and most are held remotely to minimize our carbon footprint. We commute by bike, VOI, or public transport, a car or taxi is always the last option and if we have to, we try and share the ride. Once per year, we do take the whole office abroad. And when we do, everyone is offered the choice to travel by train.
