It is hard to gauge how your team feels when no one is physically in the same room, but an employee pulse survey is perfect for helping check the team’s pulse on certain and important topics.

What is an employee pulse survey?

An employee pulse survey is a short survey sent to employees regularly to check-in on different topics, such as stress, work-life balance, job satisfaction, or company culture. The results from the survey can then be used to identify areas of improvement and create action plans.

A pulse survey is much more agile than conventional surveys. They should track the same item over a period of time and be much shorter and more frequent than a traditional engagement survey. It is also important to do them at regular intervals (monthly or quarterly) to be able to track changes properly.

A pulse survey allows employees to provide feedback more often and create a more inclusive and transparent organizational culture. It also helps the company react to feedback quickly and creates a more agile organization.

Conducting an employee pulse survey with Mentimeter

With Mentimeter’s Scales question type, you can use the Trends feature to collect, compare and plot changes over time. The Trends feature creates a graph for all historic sessions so you can analyze and dig deeper into the data. You can then link improvements to any actions or changes you’ve made within the organization to see if things are working.

The anonymity Mentimeter provides, creates a safe space to broach difficult topics and make sure everyone feels comfortable contributing real and honest feedback, building a more development-oriented workplace.

Top tip: Including an Open-Ended question slide type in the pulse survey can provide invaluable extra feedback.

Don’t forget you can add a pulse survey to the end of a presentation or send it out to colleagues before or after a meeting. If you want to do this, change the presentation pace to ‘Audience Pace’ and share the ‘voting link’ so that everyone can respond to the survey in their own time.
